Question 2: If you could ask a genie for one wish, what would it be and why?

This post comes to you from Chicago, USA (Angeli) and Zambia (Henry).

While I was travelling in Chicago for my cousin's wedding on the way back from Johannesburg South Africa, I spent a few hours chatting with Keith and Martin and heard their stories.

Keith was particularly interesting as he was one of the smartest people I've met and we chatted about socialism, democracy, family, homelessness, God, climate change and the universe. A rock-n-roll guitarist at heart, a humble soul by nature-a few strings of bad luck and broken family ties, he now spends his days guarding his few possessions and sleeping on the trains at night. Despite being very smart and capable, because of his age and not having an address, finding work has been difficult and he has found himself homeless for the past 4 years in one of the richest countries in the world. A testament to a great need in the U.S. to have a social safety net that is effective for those who need it.

When asked the question,
"If you could ask a genie for one wish, what would it be and why?"
Here were their responses....

CHICAGO, USA

"I wish people would become self aware because then they would see what was really happening and it will bring everyone together. The world is the way it is because of the free market--someone profited from everything, even this bench."
-
Martin, 18 years old, from Chicago.

"I wish for 5 million dollars after taxes at least--because I could get out of poverty and homelessness and possibly help others and still have enough left over for myself."
-
Keith, 58 years old, from Chicago.
The answers from Zambia coming soon...............
